Old World Elegance at The Met Gala 2014
Paying homage to America's couturier Charles James with a White Tie and Decorations theme, this year's Met Ball certainly saw the attendees of the star studded event dressed to impress! Although most celebrities were decorously decked out in romantic ball gowns and smart tailcoats, there were a handful of rebels who reinterpreted the dress code with pantsuits and cocktail dresses. A few looked hot, others did not. Whilst we caught a couple of A-listers who were suspiciously still hanging on to last year's Punk and Chaos theme with their carefully chosen spiked earrings and ear-cuffs; co-chair of the gala, Sarah Jessica Parker, wowed us in an Oscar de la Renta creation as she waved goodbye happily to last year's Punk with a gloved hand and demonstrated to everyone how old school glamour is really done. We also particularly loved Liu Wen in a structured dress by Zac Posen and Lauren Santo Domingo, wearing Oscar de la Renta and an amazing necklace by JAR.
Thanks to Fred Leighton, we saw many of the guests adorned in vintage jewels from the firm's collections. Here are some of the best-dressed, all wearing vintage jewels! Have fun ogling!
p.s. If any of these magnificent jewels catch your fancy, we have some similar pieces available for sale!
